The round stack method of stacking firewood is a well-known method that is easy to master and looks stunning. Make a base by laying out three to four rows of treated 2x4s, or pallets. On the top of this base, build a stack of pillars, by placing 3-4 pieces of wood side-by-side and then another on opposite sides. Continue building pillars for up to 12 rows, making sure that there is enough space between each one for air to flow through the pile.
Then, use a center stake to keep the stack in place and start adding perpendicular pieces to the edges of the stack. Tie them together in the middle using string. Repeat this process until you reach the desired height for your wall. Then, you can complete the interior with oddball pieces and any that are too big for the outer rows. Indoor stacking requires an area with good airflow and plenty of natural light. Overcrowding can lead to damp and moldy wood. The ideal indoor space for stacking is typically garages or basements.
